World Day Against Trafficking in Persons

Today the world is acknowledging the evil perpetrated on 40 million men, women, and children worldwide. Today we are saying together that slavery still exists, and we will not stand idly by while the innocent and vulnerable are being exploited in every nation on earth. 

"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound..."

For nearly thirty years A Way Out Ministries (formerly CCV Memphis) has been on the front lines against the sex industry, and during that time we have assisted over 650 women. After years of rescuing and restoring a wide range of women that come off the streets, from pimps, out of prison, jail, strip clubs, etc. we can assuredly tell you that the sex industry (in every form) is intent to destroy mind, body, and soul. We have seen this in the strip clubs. We have seen this on the streets where women are bought and sold as cattle. We have seen this in pornography production. The sex industry targets and exploits countless lives of women, children, and even men. In this industry women are made to solely be sex objects for male gratification. It is this demand for prostitution and other sexually oriented businesses that fuels sex trafficking. 

By the Grace of God, A Way Out has done a lot in the Memphis community to advocate for women and against the exploitation that happens here. However, prostitution, sex trafficking, and other forms of sexual exploitation are still very much alive in this city.

We have not been alone in this fight. There are several incredible organizations across the city dedicated to helping these women. We are not without gratitude for all the help we have received over the years. We cannot continue the work God has set before us without the generosity of our donors and dedication of our volunteers. There is also a worldwide campaign to shut down Pornhub (the largest porn site in the world) for aiding in the trafficking and exploitation of women and children.
